ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ivy Wang, 14 years old, a freshman at Lynbrook High School in 2026, began studying piano at the age of four and a half and currently studies with Dr. Yu-Jane Yang. She is a passionate young musician with a strong commitment to both music and community service. Ivy frequently organizes fundraising concerts at her school. Last year, she presented solo recitals and donated the proceeds to purchase new sewing machines for her school’s elective program.
She has participated in the NOPI Piano Festival with scholarship, John Perry Piano Festival, Honolulu Piano Festival, and the Chicago Music Festival, and has been recognized in numerous competitions, including the NOPI Concerto Competition, MTNA Regional Competition, MTAC Regional Solo and Concerto Competition, Pacific Music Society Competition, San Francisco International Piano Competition, CAMPT Solo and Concerto Competition, Kamsa Piano Competition and the Bach Music Competition, among others.
On Aug 2025, Ivy performed the complete Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 3 with the Xiangjiang Symphony Orchestra in Changsha Concert Hall marking a successful and memorable collaboration with the orchestra in China. Besides playing the piano, Ivy also enjoys biology, history, writing, and traveling.
ABOUT THE NEW ORLEANS CIVIC SYMPHONY
The New Orleans Civic Symphony is a community orchestra made up of local volunteer musicians who are dedicated to performing classical music for the greater New Orleans area. Concerts are scheduled from September to June each year and are performed in the Recital Hall at the University of New Orleans’ Performing Arts Center. https://www.neworleanscivicsymphony.org/
