About The Artists:
OSCAR ROSSIGNOLI is a renowned contemporary pianist and composer based in New Orleans, celebrated for his innovative approach to jazz and Latin music fusion. Born with a deep passion for music in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, Rossignoli began his musical journey at a young age, captivated by the rich cultural tapestry of his homeland.
Rossignoli’s career has been marked by a series of notable achievements and collaborations. He has performed alongside renowned artists across the globe, such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jason Marsalis, Herlin Riley, Joe Dyson, Nicholas Payton, Kurt Elling, Pedrito Martinez, and many others, captivating audiences with his virtuosity and emotional depth. His compositions are a reflection of his diverse cultural influences, seamlessly blending traditional Latin rhythms with the influence of the Black American Music traditions, as well as western classical music.
PETER VARNADO is an experienced musician and educator based in New Orleans. Born and raised in the city, he has a deep understanding and appreciation for the diverse musical styles that have emerged from the region. Peter attended NOCCA and The University of New Orleans, graduating with a Masters degree. While pursing an education, Peter honed his skills across various genres, including jazz, blues, r&b, gospel, and funk. He is a sought-after drummer in the New Orleans music scene; performing regularly at local venues and festivals with some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Ellis Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah, and The Jordan Family among others. As a musician and educator, Peter has traveled across the United States, Europe, and South Africa performing, giving lessons, and master classes. He is currently the BAM Director of Applied Music at Tulane University with teaching experience for over 10 years. Peter is also the drummer for Preservation Hall, The Oscar Rossignoli Trio, The Matt Booth Quintet, The Ryan Hanseler Trio, and The Nayo Jones Experience.
LEX WARSHAWSKY was born in New York City and grew up in the uniquely rich musical town of Montclair NJ. Studying with many legends including Christian McBride and Billy Hart, at the esteemed organization Jazz House Kids, he was around high level peers from an early age. He received a soloist award at the Essentially Ellington competition and top honors at the Charles Mingus Competition. At age 17, he was given a touring spot in the Thelonious Monk Institute All Stars. After high school, he attended Northwestern University where he studied with Carlos Henríquez and Victor Goines, with whom he played at New Orleans Jazz Festival in 2014. He fell in love with New Orleans, and moved there shortly after graduating, where he has played and recorded with many of the city’s top musicians. He has toured internationally with Cyrille Aimée, Judith Owen, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Gabrielle Cavassa and others. Formidable on both the acoustic and the electric bass, and as a producer, Lex is passionate about staying grounded in the present moment, in nature, and in learning about the world…and reflects that energy in his groove!
