The Musical Arts Society of New Orleans (MASNO) presents the 27th New Orleans International Piano Competition (NOIPC). Carefully selected from over 150 international auditions, twelve of the world’s top emerging pianists have been invited to New Orleans for a week of magnificent piano playing as the selected semi-finalists compete for cash and performance prizes totaling over $35,000, including performances with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra, and a solo concert at New York City's Merkin Hall.
The competition is held concurrently with the New Orleans Keyboard Festival and Piano Institute. The New Orleans Piano Institute includes masterclasses as well as recitals featuring the students of the institute that are open to the public and free of charge. Guest Artists, Russian-American pianist and former Gold Medalist of the New Orleans International Piano Competition Alexandre Moutouzkine and French violinist Chloé Kiffer will open the Keyboard Festival with a recital featuring the works of Maurice Ravel and Igor Stravinsky, inspired by Robert Craft’s book, Stravinsky: Discoveries & Memories. The artists’ program explores repertoire written by both Ravel and Stravinsky, giving a personal insight into the emotional world of the two great artists of the 20th century.
