Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 New Orleans International Piano Competition has been postponed until 2021.
It is with much disappointment that we announce the postponement of the 28th New Orleans International Piano Competition (previously set for July 19-26, 2020) to July of 2021. The specific dates will be announced soon. This was a difficult, but necessary decision due to COVID19 pandemic developments in New Orleans and continual global spread. We hope that all current and prospective applicants will apply next year when applications re-open January 1, 2021.
On behalf of the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans and the New Orleans International Piano Competition, we wish you and your families the very best of health, success, and happiness in these trying times.
Regarding Current 2020 Applicants: All current applicants were notified of this postponement via Acceptd messaging on April 6, 2020, and full application fees were refunded to their original source of payment.
Twelve of the worlds most talented up-and-coming pianists are invited to New Orleans for a week of magnificent piano playing as semifinalists competing for performance and cash prizes totaling over $35,000. The goal of the biennial competition is to provide opportunities for the most gifted and communicative musicians to further their careers and to offer to the community an opportunity to discover the world’s finest pianistic talents. To this end, the 28th New Orleans International Piano Competition (NOIPC) will be held concurrently with the annual summer New Orleans Keyboard Festival (NOKF) and Piano Institute (NOPI).
